The Best Way to Clean Hardwood Floors
So you say you can dust-mop that soil off the floor, but what about the soil that is more heavily stuck to the floor? How about the sticky residues from spilled beverages and foods that get tracked around, or the oily residues that settles on the hardwood floor when you cook? We’ve seen hardwood floors that are so dirty that you can’t begin to get it clean with over-the-counter cleaning solutions and a mop. There’s nothing like walking into a restaurant where you can see their floors are filthy because they don’t know how to clean their wood floors properly.
We’ve also seen people unknowingly put a layer of acrylic on their wood floors, using every day off the shelf name brand products, thinking they are cleaning and polishing their floors. Some will get a white buildup of this polish that begins to show every foot print and ruins the appearance of their wood floors.
Wax is another big no-no with hardwood floors. It will also create a smeared build-up on wood floors, showing every step you take.
We can take care of your hardwood, engineered wood, and laminate floors for you. We have the commercial equipment that gives us the ability to remove stubborn soils that you can’t remove. Wood floor cleaning can also remove that white build-up of polish/acrylic that you have put on the wood floor, ruining its appearance over time.
Why We Like Wood Floors
We really enjoy hardwood floors. Over the years, we have seen so many beautiful wood floors. Some woods are more simple and common like red oak floors. Some are so much more amazing that words can’t describe their beauty. We’ve seen cherry, walnut, acacia, maple, old growth heart pine, Brazilian cherry, teak, and mahogany to name a few. One of the most beautiful We have ever seen was an old growth quarter sawn wormy red oak floor sawn from old barn beams from barns that were being torn down on the east coast. Original old growth wood is so much more beautiful than what we have today.
You don’t have to convince me of the beauty of hardwood floors, so We get it when you want wood floors for their appearance. Their ability to warm up a room is unparalleled by the man made stuff we come up with, with maybe the exception of some fine handmade area rugs.
Some people choose to have hardwood floors because they think it improves indoor air quality. After all, carpet holds dust, dirt, and everything else under the sun, creating an allergy problem, or so the reasoning goes. WE have a question for you: what happens to all that dust, dirt, and everything else under the sun when you have a hardwood floor? It’s still there. Where does it go? Your air! Carpet is the biggest air filter in your place of work and home, holding all that soil, whereas the soil on your hard surface floor goes airborne every time you walk on it.
Shaw Industries found that indoor air quality was better in homes with carpeted floors than ones with hardwood floors. As a matter of fact, they said “Prior to cleaning, the levels of airborne allergens, such as cat and dust mite allergens, were less for all of the carpets than the hardwood flooring, even after the carpet was repeatedly disturbed.”
